Havana's Palco to start supplying stores early next year, Reuters first reported.
Palco, according to Reuters, plans to open a small shop that mimics the store "home center" nine which has been operating in Brazil TendTudo largest cities since 1987. Palco has a small shopping centre in the West of Havana.
Look a lot like Atlanta-based Home Depot TendTudo store offers, power supplies, hardware, tools and material, the plumbing, doors and Windows, lighting supplies, paint, flooring and floor coverings, and garden supplies.
TendTudo, a company official told Reuters, hope Cuba can be $ 400 million market. The Cuban Government recently allowed the buying and selling homes, and has given hundreds of thousands of licenses to private companies. Retail is still controlled in Cuba.
"There are important challenges, but for us it is a long-term goal," Carlos Christensen, head of the TendTudo's International Division, told the news agency. "The idea is to start small and get away with a change in the Cuban market."
